Now in its fourth year running, Alison King will guide a dedicated class of 20 students through the art of beautiful writing—boot camp style!

In this two-night hands-on workshop, you’ll build up muscle memory while learning five different calligraphy styles that will take your lettering skills to the next level. You’ll emerge with a better understanding of both historical and contemporary letterforms, deepening your appreciation for the evolution of the western alphabet.

Class fee includes two 3.5 hour workshop sessions and all the tools you’ll need, including pens, brushes, paper and ink. Kits will be distributed on the first night.

Cost: $110

Session 1: Tuesday October 15, 6-9:30 pm
The first night of Boot Camp will introduce your new toolkit while learning Uncial and Blackletter style calligraphy with a Pilot Parallel Pen.

Session 2: Wednesday October 16, 6-9:30 pm
We’ll continue on night two with Brush Script, Modern Cursive with dip pen, and a homemade Folded Pen.

This workshop is designed for beginners with little to no formal experience with calligraphy. Intermediate lettering artists looking to expand their repertoire are also welcome to attend. Teacher’s Assistant Samuel Ybarra helps keep the student/teacher ratio low.

Enrollment is limited to 20, so register today to reserve your spot – this event fills up quickly!
