WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

First time attending the PHXDW Conference? Been a while since we’ve seen you? Just a super busy person who hasn’t reviewed your ticket confirmation? NO WORRIES! We’ve got you covered with some important information below to help you make the most of Phoenix Design Week.

 

I’VE GOT MY TICKET … NOW WHAT?

 

REGISTER FOR PARTIES

Don’t forget that one pass for the Kickoff and Closing Parties are included with your conference pass. However, you MUST register for each of these separately. The parties are selling out fast, so if you haven’t done so already, snag your spot today!

 

COMMUNITY EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE WEEK

Just like the parties, community events and any add-on workshops you choose to attend require separate registration (some of these events include food or supplies, so we need an accurate headcount!). The Phoenix Design Week standalone events are not included with your conference pass. A lot of them are free, and some are ticketed. There is a diverse mix of programming throughout the week with many different locations and times, so you can pick and choose what works best for you. INFORMATION FOR THE CONFERENCE

 

LOCATION

The conference will be in the NORTH BUILDING of the Phoenix Convention Center again this year. The general sessions of the conference will be held in room 120D, with the breakout sessions on the same level in rooms 131 A/B/C and 132 A/B/C. Follow the signs to ballroom 120D for registration when you first arrive.

 

 

CHECK-IN

Check-in will start at 8am on Saturday, October 12 at the registration table outside of room 120D. Please plan to arrive no later than 8:30am to avoid waiting in a long line to pick up your badge and tote bag.

Please note if you registered after Monday, October 7, you may not have a pre-printed badge. We will be able to print a badge on site for you.

If you are registered for One-Day Sunday or Breakouts Only, please check the conference schedule and plan to pick up your badge at the registration table outside of room 120D at 8:30am on Sunday or half an hour prior to the start of the Breakout Sessions.

PREORDERED SHIRTS + POSTERS

If you have preordered a t-shirt or received a bonus shirt or commemorative poster with your Early Bird, Advance or Refer-a-Friend ticket, we recommend picking them up at the AIGA Arizona merch table as soon as you arrive. Your name will be on a list at the table.

TRANSPORTATION + PARKING

The convention center is conveniently located just off the light rail, however, if you choose to drive, there is paid parking in the convention center garage as well as street parking and other public garages around the Phoenix Convention Center. (See map above).

The North Building Garage at the corner of 5th Street and Monroe is the closest paid parking to our rooms at the convention center. Make sure to allow enough time to park, take the elevator or stairs and walk to the registration area. There may be a long line.

COMFORT + FACILITIES

The air conditioning in the convention center is frequently very, VERY cold. You may want to bring a sweater or light wrap.

Public WIFI service is only available in the lobby areas of the convention center. There is no WIFI service available in the conference room itself. Please be prepared to use your own hotspot or go to a nearby WIFI-enabled location if you need to get online during the conference.

FOOD + DINING

Lunch is on your own each day. There are many restaurants available in the area for lunch. Inside your swag bag, there is a list of nearby restaurants offering discounts to Evolve Design Conference attendees.

Please note: Bringing larger, take-out type meals into the convention center is not permitted by the convention center rules – security will ask you to dispose of them. Likewise, the convention center has not permitted us to include outside snacks, but you may bring your own personal small snacks if you like.

There will be two complimentary coffee & beverage breaks provided each day of the conference.

Water coolers will be available in the conference area.

TOPIC LUNCH GROUPS

If you reserved a spot in a Topic Lunch group, please meet your group leader in the lobby outside the breakout rooms promptly at 12:20 PM on Saturday. Groups will walk together to pre-arranged restaurants in the area and return in time for the afternoon sessions. Enjoy the conversation, and remember that you pay your own way for lunch!

SAFETY AND SECURITY

To help assure the safety of all attendees, please be sure to wear your conference badge at all times at the convention center. The security staff will be checking for credentials. With regard to all conference activities, AIGA Arizona has adopted the AIGA Code of Conduct and we reserve the right to refuse admittance for violations of this Code, or other unlawful or disruptive actions. If you have any concerns, please bring them to the immediate attention of any staff member, or directly to the AIGA Arizona president.
