Why Attend PHXDW
Year after year, the ridiculously charismatic culture of the Arizona design community brings together some of the top talent from around the nation and our own local creative community for a weekend of inspiration and learning. The result is a conference that offers the same level of awesome as many others you’ll find around the country—without destroying your vacation fund.
The local focus and the affordable tickets are entirely intentional. As a non-profit organization, we aren’t in it for the big bucks or the widespread acclaim. We’re here for the community… and frankly, it pays off.
Let us break it down for you.
We’ve Got the Speakers
When you go to a conference, what’s the first thing you check? If you’re anything like us, it’s the speakers. We’ve had many design-crush-worthy industry leaders on our stage. After all, we’re just design geeks who want to soak up some of the pixie dust from the likes of Amazon’s Jenny Lam, The White House’s Ashleigh Axios, Facebook’s Josh Higgins (who, by the way, designed Obama’s campaign), or the guy who practically invented the concept of user experience, UIE’s Jared Spool.
Not enough name dropping? Think of this: at HOW Design Live, you might have heard from people like James Victore, Pinterest’s Brian Singer, Von Glitschka, Sam Harrison and Sterling Brands’ Debbie Millman. You may have seen former Adobe Creative Resident Becky Simpson at Adobe MAX, or heard from Jessica Walsh at a Circles Conference.
Every one of those individuals (and many more) have graced the halls of the PHXDW Conference. It should come as no surprise that we’ve got another awesome lineup coming your way for 2019. This year, we will have 7 keynote speakers at the Evolve Design Conference, plus more than a dozen local experts leading 5 educational breakout tracks.
We’ve Got the Community
The Arizona design community is a vibrant, eclectic group, and the Evolve Design Conference is the big shebang that will bring everyone together. Attendees notoriously make new friends quickly, which we’re sure to facilitate through the variety of events we have prepared. Plus, we’ll be offering hands-on workshops and classes during our breakout sessions on BOTH days of the conference this year.
Trust us, there will be plenty of opportunities to make new friends.
At the Right Price
The speakers are fantastic, the community is even better. Now, let’s talk some direct price comparisons, shall we?
The HOW Design Live Conference, has a ticket price of $2,295 for 5 days,
not including your flight and hotel.
Adobe Max is $1,595 for 3 days.
An Event Apart is up to $1,475 and the closest location is in San Francisco later this year.
The PHXDW Conference is just $399 for a full-price, non-member ticket for 2 days and that includes admittance to the Kickoff and Closing Parties. It’s located right here in Phoenix (with plenty of affordable hotel options, if needed), and we’re offering some nice discounts if you buy advance tickets and/or are a member of AIGA or an affiliate organization.
But That’s Not All…
The fun and inspiration doesn’t stop when the conference ends. From there, a week-long series of design community uniting events begins. Events range in topic and size. They consist of meetups, workshops, talks and social gatherings held by individual artists, creative companies and organizations that serve the design community in some way.
This year’s Evolve Design Conference and Phoenix Design Week events offer the chance to network with design leaders, learn from local professionals and see firsthand what’s coming next in the industry. It’s the largest design conference in Arizona, built for creative professionals and hosted by the non-profit organization, AIGA Arizona. Each year, hundreds of designers, writers and other marketing professionals gather to share their skills and attend workshops with leaders in the industry. It’ll also leave you with a heavy dose of inspiration to re-energize your work. You simply can’t get all of that from a few training videos.
The Evolve Design Conference—and Phoenix Design Week as a whole—is full of hands-on workshops and actionable insights, making it a worthy investment for designers and other creative professionals.
