Tell us about a favorite project or accomplishment from this past year.
A project that hasn’t launched that I can’t talk about. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What is your favorite color, and why? Pantone numbers and Hex codes totally allowed.
Red. I’ve always been drawn to it. I don’t know why but its been that way since I was a little kid. Though when it comes to clothing, I almost avoid it – I look better in blue.
Share a saying that inspires you, or theme song that gets you moving.
“Work to live, not live to work.” I’ve been a firm believer of work / life balance for a long time. Whether freelance or full-time, being able to step away is key to a healthy life. With the current events of our country, I believe its very evident that there things far more important than design.
“If I wasn’t a designer (or in the design world), I’d be ________________.”
A problem solver – in one capacity or another. I like helping others, even if that meant me working at a gym as a coach or something totally different.
What’s your superpower, or one you wish you had?
Not necessarily to be omniscient, but when a situation, problem, or question comes up, to know the best choice or answer.
This year, the theme of Phoenix Design Week is “Design Belongs.” What does “Design Belongs” bring to mind for you?
Being newer to Phoenix, I feel like I still have an outsider’s perspective. There’s such a rich history of natural beauty and architecture here in Phoenix. But it still feels like great design isn’t as widespread as other creative talents here in the city. That isn’t meant as a dig, just an observation by a new citizen. There’s obviously lots of design talent here, but I don’t feel that great design is as desired by the general public as I’ve seen in other major cities. From my perspective, I believe that not only does design belong here in Phoenix – it is vital to its future.
