The Exhibits
The beauty of Phoenix Design Week is that it enables us to put Phoenix design on a pedestal. Throughout Design Week, there are many ways this is being executed, but one of the coolest ways we manifest this goal is by giving you options to showcase your own creative prowess.
For Phoenix Design Week 2010, we’ve created several new exhibits that we hope will give you lots of options to choose from. The choices range from logo design all the way to a team collaboration challenge.

If you are fascinated by the lost art of hand-lettering, you can attend this exhibit and show your support for local designers who’ve tried their ‘hand’ at crafting a letter to help form a full alphabet (plus special characters!) created entirely from hand-crafted means. In this popular display, the talented exhibitors of AlphaLimn really pushed the limited on this exhibit, as submissions span from simple renderings to complex illustrations using anything from hand-drawn to photographic media.

What happens when creatives are randomly paired up and asked to make marketing magic? See for yourself at our Creative Roulette exhibit.
From those who registered to participate in this event, Three MadMen-style teams of a designer and copywriter were formed. These teams were assigned a general product category and were asked to meet up on their own time and name and craft their vision for their product. In today’s need-it-yesterday society, creative collaboration has become rare. Experience its revival at Creative Roulette.

In 2009, Phoenix Design Week launched a poster contest to find the best PHXDW themed poster. In 2010 the contest returns with a bigger and better theme. Entries are being accepted until September 12th.
FORWARD means pushing our city towards the ultimate goal of becoming a recognized design center. What is your FORWARD concept? Send us your best take and your work could be distributed to hundreds of attendees. And, just to make it a little more challenging: Don’t use any arrows! The winner will receive 25 professional prints of their submission to use however they choose. The winning entry will also be freely available to attendees of the Poster exhibit.
Several selected designs will be printed and showcased in the official poster exhibit during design week. Plus, all valid submissions will be featured online, viewable to everyone! This contest gives local designers a platform for showcasing their talent—the prize is just an added bonus.
Open voting will take place on this site from September 13th, 2010 to September 19th, 2010. If Phoenix agrees your design’s the best, you win. It’s that simple. The winner will be announced the week of September 20th.
